RootDim was previously known as SuperDim. RootDim requires root privileges on your device.

RootDim has been largely surpassed by our ScreenDim, which does not require root access, although it also offers an enhanced root mode that may work more reliably than RootDim on some newer devices. ScreenDim includes useful features such as presets in the notification area.

RootDim enables you to dim LCD screens (and some OLED ones) to very low levels, exceeding the OS's typical limits (hence requiring root privileges) to preserve night vision. This feature will be particularly valuable for dedicated amateur astronomers.

On certain devices, you can even disable LEDs, like the power LED.

If you use ChainFire3D, RootDim allows you to conveniently manage night mode settings alongside brightness controls.

You can store up to five profiles in RootDim that can be instantly loaded from the RootDim screen with a single tap. These profiles encompass LCD backlight brightness and night mode settings if applicable. Long tap on the profile button to save, and short tap to load.

You can also create launcher shortcuts for specific saved profiles and cycle through all profiles.

Note 1: Some devices restrict lowering the brightness below the OS's minimum value, which is beyond my control.
Note 2: A special feature is available for certain Archos 70/101 devices facing firmware issues that hinder wake-up after being put to sleep with low brightness. To resolve this problem, navigate to Menu | Options and select the corresponding option if you own one of these devices.
Note 3: For users interested in a widget, remember the launcher shortcut functionality.
